Bob Steenstra- Our resident Licensed Battlefield Guide (LBG)

Producer's Note: LBG, Bob Steenstra, is our resient guide on the podcast. "Bob's role is unique," says AG host, Matt Callery, "It's like watching two jazz musicians because Bob will say to the guest'hey what about the story of Jeremiah Gage' and the guest will go 'ah! Yes, so that story is...' and tell the story. That's my favorite part of the show." Bob has known Matt since 2005 when he signed up as a guide for GettysBike Tours

Bob, recently retired after 38 years of teaching history at the secondary level, has been a battlefield guide since 1991.  An avid life-long cyclist who has twice biked across the United States, Bob is a former owner of Gettysbike Tours and, though he still gives car and bus tours, he is happiest when giving tours for Gettysbike.  Bob is married to Diane, his wife of over forty years.  Daughter Nicole used to be the photographer of Gettysbike and his second daughter, Kelly, co-owned Gettysbike with him.

Jim Pangurn- LBG

Producer's Note: We first met Jim Pangburn when we opened GettysBike Tours in 2005. He was the first guide we met and the guide who gave us our first bike tour. It was Jim's version of a tour that we used to base our basic route on. So, it was pretty cool that Jim was able to join Pete and I for our first four episodes in 2018.
From reenactorappreciationweekend.com :
A graduate of Bucknell University, Mr. Pangburn is in his 17th year as a Licensed Battlefield Guide at the Gettysburg National Military Park.  He has been the past 13 years as a full-time guide, in which time he has performed nearly 4,000 tours of various types and lengths.  He has been a serious student of the American Civil War and the Gettysburg Campaign for nearly 25 years.

Mr. Pangburn has served as the historical narrator for Gettysburg's annual Civil War reenactment for the last 12 years.  He also narrated Antietam's 150th Anniversary reeenactment in 2012, and the Greencastle, Pennsylvania's commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of the beginning of the American Civil War in the Spring of 2011.
A Pennsylvania resident since 1967, he has lived in South-central Pennsylvania for 13 years, including six-and-a-half years in Gettysburg.
In addition to teaching test-prep classes for the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides, Mr. Pangburn participated in the Association's Evening Summer Walking Tours program and performed tours for the Gettysburg Foundation's Spring Muster.  A member of the ALBG's Executive Committee, he currently serves on the Association's Guide Centennial Committee, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the nation's oldest professional guide service.

Charlie Fennell- LBG

Producer's note: When we started spreading the word about Addressing Gettysburg, there was only one name everyone immediately suggested when it came to the question of who to get for Culp's Hill: Charlie Fennell. Not only is Charlie's knowledge of history so deep and extensive, his passion for it proves that history is definitely not boring. He's a funny guy to talk to. And who doesn't like to laugh while they learn?

D. Scott Hartwig- US Park Ranger (ret), Author, historian, TV personality

Producer's note: We were very lucky to have Scott Hartwig on a bonus episode of Addressing Gettysburg. Well, first, we were lucky to meet his wife, Barb Sanders who then put us in touch with Scott, THEN, we were luck that he accepted our invitation (free buffalo wings go a long way). But, seriously, Scott was a lot of fun to talk. The man knows it all. That's probably why he has such an impressive bio.
